Light More Homes raises awareness of the need to elimate sunstandard housing in Macon & Bibb County. The Christmas season timing reinforces Macon Area Habitat for Humanity’s Christian roots and its mission to provide affordable housing for all. This event celebrates the glory of the season through lights, music, and motion.
On Thanksgiving Day, Chick-fil-A atTom Hill Sr. Blvd lights up with more than 65,000 Christmas lights. These lights and decorations synchronized to Christmas-themed music simulcast via FM transmitter and on-site speakers. Ten of thousands of people from the Middle Georgia community come from all over to witness this display every year.Light More Homes began as a small residential drive-through display to remind people of the light of the world, and was created by board member Chuck Hammock.
The program then expanded to include live music from the Live Out Loud children’s choir.Through sponsorship and volunteer efforts, Light More Homes raises funds to help support the construction of a new Macon Area Habitat for Humanity Home every year. Pictures of this event can be viewed on Macon Area Habitat Facebook page.
