Light More Homes
Macon Area Habitat for Humanity’s Light More Homes annual Christmas light display brings joy
to thousands each year—while helping us quite literally “light more homes.” Contributions from
sponsors of this festive tradition support our mission to build safe, affordable homes for families
in Macon-Bibb and Jones Counties.
Macon Area Habitat for Humanity (MAHFH) is an affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International,
an ecumenical Christian housing ministry devoted to ending substandard housing across the
globe. Since our founding in 1986, MAHFH has served more than 150 families through
homeownership programs. Homes are built using volunteer labor and in-kind donations, then
sold to partner families through no-interest, no-profit mortgages.
What began as an extravagant light display at the home of MAHFH Board Member Chuck
Hammock has grown into a dazzling community tradition. Today, Light More Homes features a
breathtaking 52,000-light canopy stretching across Montpelier Avenue and a festive Candy
Cane Lane along Stadium Drive on Mercer University’s campus. All of the lights are set to music
by local students through the annual Chick-fil-A Programming Contest.
Prior to its move in 2020, Light More Homes was hosted at Chick-fil-A on Tom Hill Sr. Boulevard
for 12 years. With the need for more space and the strength of our partnership with Mercer
University, Habitat, Mercer University, and Live @ Lofts collaborated to expand the display. The
result was a stunning holiday experience for the community—one that continues to grow each
year. Most recently, two dazzling, life-size gingerbread homes were added, creating the perfect
backdrop for festive photos.
The community and its’ visitors are encouraged to join us throughout the Light More Homes
season. We will officially Flip the Switch for the season on Thursday, December 4th at 5:30pm.
The show will then run each evening from 6-10pm until the first Sunday in January.
